Daily Readings - September 15, 2011 - Thursday
Our Lady of Sorrows
First Reading: Hebrews 5: 7-9
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 31: 2-3, 3-4, 5-6
Holy Gospel: Luke 2: 33-35
Holy Gospel:
33 His father and mother wondered at what was said about the child. 34 Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother, “See him; he will be for the rise or fall of the multitudes of Israel. He shall stand as a sign of contradiction, 35 while a sword will pierce your own soul. Then the secret thoughts of many may be brought to light.”
First Reading:
7 Christ, in the days of his mortal life, offered his sacrifice with tears and cries. He prayed to him who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his humble submission. 8 Although he was Son, he learned through suffering what obedience was, 9 and once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for those who obey him.
Responsorial Psalm:
Save me, O Lord, in your kindness.
2 In you, O Lord, I take refuge, may I never be disgraced; deliver me in your justice.
3 Give heed to my plea, and make haste to rescue me. Be a rock of refuge for me, a fortress for my safety.
4 For you are my rock and my stronghold, lead me for your name’s sake;
5 free me from the snare that they have set for me. Indeed you are my protector.
6 Into your hands I commend my spirit; you have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.
