Holy Gospel according to Saint John, Chapter 15, Verses 26 - 16: 4
First Reading, Acts of the Apostles by Saint Paul Chapter 16, Verses 11 - 15
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms  149: 1-6, 9

Holy Gospel:

26 From the Father, I will send you the Spirit of truth. When this Helper has come from the Father, he will be my witness, 27 and you, too, will be my witnesses for you have been with me from the beginning.

16.1 I tell you all this to keep you from stumbling and falling away. 2 They will put you out of the Jewish communities. Still more, the hour is coming when anyone who kills you will claim to be serving God; 3 they will do this because they have not known the Father or me. 4 I tell you all these things now so that when the time comes you may remember that I told you.

First Reading:

11 So we put out to sea from Troas and sailed straight across to Samothrace Island, and the next day to Neapolis. 12 From there we went inland to Philippi, the leading city of the district of Macedonia, and a Roman colony. We spent some days in that city.

13 On the sabbath we went outside the city gate to the bank of the river where we thought the Jews would gather to pray. We sat down and began speaking to the women who were gathering there. 14 One of them was a God-fearing woman named Lydia from Thyatira City, a dealer in purple cloth.

As she listened, the Lord opened her heart to respond to what Paul was saying. 15 After she had been baptized together with her household, she invited us to her house, “If you think I am faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us to accept her invitation.

Responsorial Psalm:

1 Alleluia!
Sing to the Lord a new song,
sing his praise in the assembly of his saints.

2 Let Israel rejoice in his Maker,
let the people of Zion glory in their King!

3 Let them dance in praise of his name
and make music for him with harp and timbrel.

4 For the Lord delights in his people;
he crowns the lowly with victory.

5 The saints will exult in triumph;
even at night on their couches.

6 Let the praise of God be on their lips,
and in their hands two-edged swords,

9 to execute on them the written sentence:
this is the glory of all his saints. Alleluia!
